I needed a keyboard that I could put my own letters and numbers on that was hooked up to I2C or a Serial port
It enables the user to create their own keys and to determine what output should be sent out for each key press. The keytops are transparent and detachable. You can easily print your own characters or symbols using a printer or just a pen if you want. There is code examples that show how this keyboard and another Arduino communicates over I2C. But if you prefer to use the Serial port the code example will also send the key press out on the UART as soon as a key is pressed.
The Keys are of the short-stroke clicky kind. They sits in a sandwich of two PCB that makes them less flimsy and also gives the keyboard a clean appearance. The shield have an IDC10 connector with the same pinout as my other products so it is easy to connect to for example the LCD display and send its output to it.
The unused pins on the shield are accessible from an unpopulated header.
It comes in two variants. 1 Standard UNO shield 2 UNO Shield + pre programmed UNO with micro USB connector
