What is it?

The Pixelblaze expansion board is an add-on sensor board packed with sensors and a dedicated processor that makes it easier than ever to create interactive LED patterns!

It's incredibly small, fitting on top of Pixelblaze, or tucked away where ever you need the sensor inputs.

A line-in jack and microphone (switches automatically), dedicated signal processing with frequency data ranging from 37Hz-10KHz designed to work in loud environments
A 3-axis 16G accelerometer
An ambient light sensor
5 analog inputs that can be used with potentiometers or other analog inputs

A great way to give your Pixelblaze eyes and ears (and more)

Solders easily onto Pixelblaze board and gives fantastic sound reactance, with many other inputs available as well to developers and inventors of LED displays.

Love the Pixelblaze Boards

These boards have a lot of potential for tinkering, and the sensor board adds a lot for generic input. It's really easy to add to an existing main board.

Macaroni (Pixelblaze) & Cheese (Expansion board)

Initially, I was a "little" skeptical at purchasing the expansion board. I wondered if it was "really" worth the extra $29. I took the leap and was amazed at the increased functionality - especially for my application. I recently purchased 31 Pixelblazes and 31 expansion boards (and plan to order more) and after having spent time with the Pixelblaze + expansion board, I would never order a Pixelblaze without it.

I love it!

This board is really cool.
The features are as described.
It talks at 115200 baud over serial and has its own dedicated MCU to do all the processing of the accelerometer, microphone and 5 analog inputs.
It can be used with anything that speaks serial.

Took me some time to find the documentation, but it is pretty straight forward and well integrated with the pixelblaze board that i used it for.

Only drawback is the price, i think it is too expensive.
On the other hand high quality components are used and i bet the development took a lot of time.
Will buy again if the budget allows it.

Best of the best

They are selling a great product, provide excellent responsive support, and are friendly overall. I can't think of anything they could do better. On a recent order, my delivery was stolen from my mailbox before I could get it. I was sent a replacement right away at no cost. I've purchased three of their boards now over time.
