What is it?

Earrings with LED's to light up any occasion. The different patterns are controlled by an ATtiny416 and programmed with the Arduino IDE. These earrings are powered by a CR1225 coin cell battery, and will last at least a day, and up to 2 weeks (depending on the pattern and the color (voltage forwarding) of the LED). A button on the back of the earring can be used to select different patterns, or to turn off the device.

Why did you make it?

Challenged myself to use the ATtiny416 in something special. The small foot print of the micro-controller allowed using this in an earring. I wanted a very simple design, and by using the coin cell battery, I was able to run the LED's without current resistors (current of the coin cell is low enough). One capacitor is placed close to the VCC pin of the ATtiny416 to make sure the voltage stays consistent while the LED's are flashing. I also wanted to experiment with using different layers on the PCB. The 'silver' on the earring is accomplished by removing the soldermask in that area.

What makes it special?

The earrings are entirely assembled by hand. I use a stencil and re-flow oven to install the components on the font, the back is done with a soldering iron. Programming is done with the Arduino IDE. To conserve energy, the ATtiny416 is in sleep mode, 99.9% of the time. It only wakes up to determine which LED should be turned on or off before entering sleep mode again.

Just Amazing

A friend introduced me to the basic earrings (pink type) Sander's makes when he gave them as a gift to my girlfriend on her birthday. I really liked them, but knowing she likes blue, tracked down shop and purchased these Spiral ones. Absolutely worth it. Very happy with purchase. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Sizing: Earrings are a tad over 1" it seems in diameter. They are not small, but at the same time they don't feel too big. About the size of an artistic hanging earring that isn't garish.

Quality: Brightness of LEDs is great! Patterns are interesting. The product feels quality made. Only thing I would change is finding some way to cover the capacitor that stores battery power, but having this is a great trade off for these being USB-C CARGEABLE! :)))

Logistics: Shipping happened quickly and the packaging was excellent.

Instructions: Instructions were kind of hidden attached under the lid of the box. took a while to find. Since I bought two other items that had free floating instruction cards, I didn't think to look under the lid until later on this item. Would prefer this to be standardized, but don't want to mark down what is otherwise super clear and thoughtful documentation.

Beautiful but one LED not working.

The earrings are as pretty as pictured and imagined. Unfortunately one of the LEDs isn't working which probably won't be very noticeable using the animated modes.

Fun

Such a simple and fun addition to my collection and super bright. I would make sure to remove the batteries before storage to prevent them from draining empty.

Snazzy earrings!

These earrings are super nice, bright LEDs with a bunch of interesting animation patterns. The power button is a bit sensitive so they tend to turn on when being handled so I have to be very careful to make sure they are off when I put them away. As a result, one showed up with a dead battery. No big deal, I have plenty of batteries!

Beautiful earrings! I love them.

Really fun and creative earrings. I love the style and design.

I wish they featured two things -- an ability to turn the brightness up/down, and an extra set of batteries included.

Otherwise, they're perfect.

Thank you for the feedback. Implementing the ability to change the brightness should not be difficult to implement, I just have to figure out how to add a brightness option to the push button without making it too complicated. Unfortunately there are shipping restrictions on shipping batteries separate, but there are great options on Amazon for replacement batteries. Just search for CR1225 :)
