Lovely little clock, would benefit from better timekeeping

I've been running this for a while, as wanted something nicer than a 7 segment LCD display in the living room... the E-ink display is very legible even in a dark room and have had no problems with battery life. The main complaint has been the accuracy of the clock, which is not great... my own one has been losing more than a minute a month, which is worse than you'd expect from a cheap Casio wristwatch... the temp sensor seems a bit wasted as isn't used for crystal compensation - I do recognise this would be a fair bit of work to characterise, though.

The nature of the circuit didn't make it easy to try and analyse the tuning, but hopefully I've made a good mod on this front to bring it closer in line with expectations... will pass my findings onto the creator.

Hi!
I took a deep look on the clock accuracy and how to improve it and a created a project log on Hackaday:

I will now tune the XTAL capacitors on every new clock to be as accurate as possible with this configuration. I think I can achieve +/- 5 ppm. That will be under 15 seconds per month.

Ghost Clock

Okay, I didn't expect much from a case made by a 3D printer, but the display is a real disappointment. If I had known that this clock has a button that makes the display appear clear and without a ghost for 1 single minute, I certainly would not have bought it. And to be clear, that happens at normal room temperature around 22°C and not at "elevated temperatures" as described in the documentation. The so called documentation even lacks a hint on how to set the time. Nice idea poorly executed and not worth the money.

I'm sorry that you are not satisfied with the clock. I tried to make the photos correspond to the reality as much as possible, i.e. the ghosting effect is visible on them. Despite its shortcomings, I hope you'll still find the clock to be usable and enjoyable. Nevertheless, I thank you for your feedback and I'll consider making appropriate improvements.

Great little clock

The Agora clock v2 is nice clock. The 3D printed case is well done and attractive. I chose the purple-red. It's easy to read in all lighting conditions except in total dark or almost total darkness. It deserves a 5 star rating but I didn't give one in all categories. In Shipping I gave a 4 star rating due to no tracking. It only took a little over 2 weeks which is certainly reasonable but I like to know when to expect deliveries. For Documentation I gave a 3 star rating which may be a bit harsh but I struggled a bit setting the clock. The designer used symbols embossed on the case for the 4 buttons but did not equate those symbols to words he used in the brief directions sheet. However, in his defense, he is selling to a international customer base and had to create directions for a diverse group. With that in mind he probably did as well as could be expected. Once I understood the controls it was very simple to set and use.

All in all this is a great product and I fully recommend it to anyone looking for this type of clock. In addition I was pleased it came fully assembled and working.
