WHAT IS IT?

The BIOT is a small, battery-powered WiFi device that can last up to five years in the field. It sends you an email if there is a water leak detected, or if the door to which it is attached opens, as well as temperature updates to your dashboard at configurable intervals. You can also configure it to communicate with a self hosted & open source community edition of the Packetpeek Platform, releasing soon.

WHY WOULD I WANT ONE OF THESE?

I designed the BIOT for people who wanted a device with a hall-sensor activated door alarm, resistive divider water sensor, and temperature sensor (thermistor) that runs on batteries, doesn't need a gateway, and can talk directly to their WiFi router. Sure, there are expensive platforms out there by the big guys, but this was designed with Tinkerers in mind. I left some solder points on it for voltage level emailing as well. The Packetpeek Platform is currently a free hosted service, but -- once released -- you can also take advantage of the open source community edition and self host.

WHY IS IT DIFFERENT?

Prosensors' BIOT is special because it's highly configurable, and the data is sent through standard POST packets. Looking to get into IoT platform development? Use this as a cheap base, and focus on the I in IoT.
