Read More…The IV3 Tube Clock is an I2C controllable clock based on the IV-3 VFD tubes. It is a stand-alone clock with 12/24h modes, adjustable tube brightness and nighttime dimming. Additionally, it doubles as a 4 character display, controllable over I2C from your microcontroller/computer of choice. This lets you write bitfields to the clock and display any data or pattern you'd like! I have written an Arduino library to get quickly up and running.
This kit contains all the necessary parts to build your own IV-3 tube clock. The clock is controlled with an STM32 microcontroller with direct drive (no multiplexing). All the PCBs come assembled except for the tubes which will need to be soldered to the provided breakout boards.
The clock is powered over USB with a USB-C connector and a backup CR2032 battery to keep time when unplugged.
This clock was successfully funded on Kickstarter and there are already over 100 out in the wild!
CR2032 battery is not included.
