Why should I upgrade?:

NEW Version 1.98 includes polyphony in all MIDI channels, quick option for load/save presets, MIDI CC messages implementation to control all the YAMAHA chips parameters. GENESIS: presets from iconic Genesis/Megadrive videogames like Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3; Streets of Rage 1 and 2; Toe Jam & Earl, Panic on Funkotron; Ecco the Dolphin; Time Trax; Thunderforce IV and Chakan - The Forever Man in the Bank 0. ARCADE: presets from iconic Arcade videogames like Street Fighter 2; Space Harrier; Ghouls'n Ghosts; Final Fight; OutRun; R-Type, Shinobi; Double Dragon; Golden Axe; Altered Beast; Marble Madness; Forgotten Worlds; Fantasy Zone 2 DX and Ninja Spirit. These presets can be found in Bank 0. Bank 1 is used for loading up to 128 presets from the SD Card. Check the Datasheet below for the MIDI CC implementation chart and videogames presets list.

All DAFM SYNTHs purchased as DIY Kits
All assembled DAFM SYNTHs purchased after January 21, 2020
Assembled DAFM SYNTHs purchased before January 21, 2020 check upgrade manual above for last hope solution

Product selection:

- Do I need the "Green Pill - 128 kbytes Microcontroller" to upgrade to the new version? If you purchased the DAFM SYNTH before May 1, 2020, you NEED the "Green Pill - 128 kbytes Microcontroller". Please select it in the product selection menu.

- Do I need the "USB-To-Serial Converter" to upgrade to the new version? If you do not have an USB-To-Serial Converter you NEED to purchase one for the upgrade of the DAFM SYNTH to the newest version, unless you purchased an assembled DAFM SYNTH with black PCB after May 1, 2020, which already has one integrated.

highly recommended, both the upgrade kit AND the DAFM synth.

My (older) DIY DAFM kit didn't support the newer firmware, so I was missing out on the latest and greatest features.
I messaged the seller and got word back that a chip with more memory was required and that an upgrade kit would come available soon.

I ordered as soon as it became available, because I LOVE the DAFM synth.

Unfortunately the chip was DOA, it wouldn't work. Tried to reflash, but my ft232 didn't detect the chip.
Abraham from Kasser Synths helped me troubleshoot and we came to the conclussion the chip was borked.
He send me a new one (and added the optional serial flasher at no cost). This level of support is what makes a great product even better. I would give 3 thumbs up if I had that many. If you have the DIY kit, do yourself a favor and get this upgrade, it's more then worth it !! Thanks again Abraham!
