What is it?

SAO Badge is a simple 2 SAO Holder that is powered by either USB C or 2x AA Batteries. It features the appropriate 2x3 Keyed Female connector for SAO v2 and is backwards compatible with the original SAO 2x2 design. It has a toggle switch that allows you to toggle it between USB or Battery power and doubles as a power switch when one or the other is not in use.

In addition to working as a badge via battery power it also features a M4 hole in each corner so that you can wear it however you'd like or if you'd prefer you can mount it to something a little more permanent or set it up as a desk ornament.

Why did you make it?

When the SAO was first introduced at DC26 we were very fortunate that the SAO was supported by the Official DEF CON Badge, this allowed anyone to acquire an SAO and power it since everyone at DEF CON had a badge. Unfortunately the DC27 badge did not natively support SAOs and we found that there simply were not enough indie badges available and this simple design is meant to fill that void while also having a use outside of a conference.

I created the SAO Badge so that people would have a way to inexpensively display their favorite SAOs wherever they would like and to not be restrained to battery only power. The intention is to keep making these badges and to change up the art every year and when necessary improve the design.

What's in the Box?

A USB C Cable is not included.

How does it work?

You can either put in 2xAA Batteries or power it over USB C. It is strongly recommended that you do not power SAO Badge from a computer! It will work but I am not responsible for any damage it may cause. The first word in "SAO" is "Shitty" so remember that and don't plug it into your computer! I recommend using a Power Bank or a 5V USB Charger.
