InfiniLED v2,

This product is the second generation of multi-year always-on LEDs. Inspired from the TritiLED project, this improved version was built fully discrete aiming for increased reliability and always lower power consumption. This new version should shine bright up to 5 years from a single coin-cell battery. It is delivered in a neat plastic enclosure with strong neodymium magnets to easily fasten the LED to any type of metallic surface.

Why this new version?

It started as a gift to my friends and family. I was looking for something original to offer that could be placed somewhere visible and that would "stay alive" for several years to come. I ended up designing the InfiniLED; a neat little light-emitting magnet that would shine for the next several years. It could be used as a reassuring nightlight in a children's room or attached to a fridge, leading the way to the food like a lighthouse in the sea!

Note: Current consumption measurements have shown a consistent consumption of around 5uA. This corresponds to up to 5 years operation with a single CR2032 battery. However, note that exact duration can still vary based on battery type and environment.

A light 35Hz flicker can be observed by a trained eye, this is normal and part of the sacrifice required to keep the power consumption of the LED to a strict minimum. Conveniently, I found that it catches the eye more this way. It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Awesome product

This exactly what I've been looking for. Sometimes I need a small light that runs for several days. And I don't want to swap or charge batteries every other day. This one should do the trick of working when it's needed. Of course: battery life depends on several factors.

Works exactly as expected

Makes some great Halloween decorations, especially if you loathe changing batteries. Would recommend.

Awesome Design!

Well, I finally got my little package here in the US. It only took 2 months :-), and it arrived safely. I was a little worried that is wasn’t going to get here and was seriously disappointed that I wasn’t going to enjoy it.
I really like the small design, the plastic case and of course the magnet. All nice touches! I installed the battery and marked the start date on the calendar. I am super curious how long it will last.
Thank you for designing a cool and practical device. Please keep them coming!

Nice little always On LED.

It'll be interesting to see how long it will actually run before the battery is exhausted. Alternate LED colors would be a nice option but probably won't have the low current draw of Red.

Thanks a lot for the feedback Russel! Coincidentally, I am looking into possible variants with different LED colors and possibly a blinking version. Some nice things are on the way so stay tuned ;)! I estimated that the battery would last around 5 years based on observed current consumption and average coin-cell capacity. I have not had one for long enough to verify that yet but mines have been proudly leading me the way to my fridge since soon 2 years already!
