What is it?

A universal sensor board with a 1.3" OLED Display which supports different detachable i2c/one-wire sensors that can be connected with a 4 pin 3.5mm audio connector. There is also a tight-fit pin-header connector for common i2c sensors (VCC->GND->SCL->SDA), one wire and ADC devices where you can connect the sensor board without soldering. There is a buzzer and real-time clock on the board that you can additionally show the time a set alarm. The board also has a USB to Uart chip for flashing and programming.

TeHyBug (Temperature Humidity Spy Bug) is an ultimate low power environmental data spy-bug for your home. It logs environmental data periodically and sends it to the TeHyBug-Server, your own web server, or MQTT broker like a Raspberry Pi, where you can view the data in a nice daily/hourly graph. Measure the environmental data in your private server room, basement, storeroom, library, etc.

Which environmental data does it measure?

Depending on the sensor type that you connect, current firmware supports:

• BME680 for Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, Humidity in Percentage, Barometric air pressure in inHg or hPa, Dew point in Celsius or Fahrenheit, Air Quality Resistance
• BME280 for Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, Humidity in Percentage, Barometric air pressure in inHg or hPa, Dew point in Celsius or Fahrenheit
• BME280 for Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, Barometric air pressure in inHg or hPa
• DHT21/DHT22/AM2320 (and other AOSONG sensors which support DHT22 one wire simulation) for Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, Humidity in Percentage, Barometric air pressure in inHg or hPa, Dew point in Celsius or Fahrenheit
• DS18b20 waterproof sensor for Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit
• MAX44009 for Ambient Light in lux
• VEML6070 for UV Index
• AHT10 + BMP280 for Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, Humidity in Percentage, Barometric air pressure in inHg or hPa, Dew point in Celsius or Fahrenheit (this sensor is included by default with TeHyBug Display universal)

It can measure all the data that other "Classic" TeHyBugs in my store and show the sensor data on the OLED Display.

All sensors (excerpt DS18b20) come with a 25cm long 4PIN Audio Jack cable. The waterproof DS18b20 has a 1m cable.

What makes it special?

There is a 18650 Battery charging circuit, the sensors can be easily swapped and reconfigured via the web interface. It provided multiple data serving modes:

You don't need a Sensor Hub, just a 2.4G WiFi Router, also you are free to use your own custom MQTT Brocker or data server.

What you need to start using it:

a Micro USB cable and a 2025 Coin Cell Battery for the real-time clock and a 2.4 Wifi network for the time and sensor configuration.

First start?

• Connect power to the TeHyBug Display Board,
• Connect to the TeHyBug-XXX Wifi network, and provide the wifi credentials of your home network
• The TeHyBug will restart and show the IP address on the display, after that connect to the IP with your browser to continue configuration.

Usage

With the right and left buttons, you can decide what data your TeHyBug should show, a date with a clock, or sensor data. Holding the right button for 20 seconds will toggle the Wifi connection, your TeHyBug display can also work offline since it has an RTC chip on board, wifi mode is only needed for sensor data forwarding to MQTT/HTTP server, configuration, and the OTA Updates.

Flashing

You can flash it with Arduino Ide/PlatformIo or others via USB since it has an USB2Uard chip on board. Select the esp8285 generic board. To put the board into the flashing mode, hold the Mode Button and hit the reset button after that release the Mode button.
