Read More…The tinyPower is a small development board for the TinyAVR series, like the attiny1604 or attiny1614. Those are great little chips with lots of features, much better than the classic Attiny's, with better timers, ADCs, more advanced UART, SPI, etc. The hardware of the new Attiny's is much easier to use, and they are faster, many instructions take fewer cycles.
This order includes the development board with an Attiny1604 and with 2 x 10p pin headers.
On the back of the board, there is room for a voltage regulator, the footprint is for an **1117 regulator. There is a 10uF cap on the input and 1uF and 100uF on the output to stabilize the regulator.
I offer two options 3.3v and 5V. - AMS117 5.0v 800mA - AMS117 3.3v 800mA
But you can always solder one on yourself, all 5V ***1117 (5v and below) variations can be used.
There is a switch that can be used in the program code as a normal switch. And will maybe be used in the future to boot into the software USB bootloader.
TinyPower Dev board make use of a micro USB for power, calculated for max 500mA. The Attiny has a max of 200mA.
TinyPower has a built-in V-USB(software USB) circuit, the typical circuit with two Zener diodes, 1.5K pull-up for low speed, and two 68ohm resistors on D- and D+. I'm working on a V-USB port for the tinyAVR series 0, 1 and 2, I will share the port in the near future. But there is already another V-USB port available for the tinyAVR series, so you are not dependent on me alone. The software USB circuit is optional and will take two pins, PA6 and PA7. By removing the two 68ohm resistors you can disable the software USB circuit so you have all GPIO pins available again.
The LED serves as an indicator for the power to the microcontroller, it will light when either a USB or external power source is connected. Is not connected to a GPIO pin.
There are two small Schottky diodes between vusb(USB power) and the voltage regulator and the VCC pin of the attiny, so the vusb(USB power) and > 7v external power supply will not short, I do not recommend that you power the board with two power sources but if a mistake is made there is some sort of protection, minimal. And will give a little bit of reverse polarity protection for a short time.
The atinyAVRs are programmed with UPDI (Unified Program and Debug Interface) is a single-wire interface(plus power). Much easier and cleaner than the old ISP with 4 wires plus power. It used the reset/UPDI pin, by the old attiny's you couldn't use the reset pin, but that is no longer the case, tinyAVR can use the reset pin after the reset cycle(500ms after the boot-up), only criteria is that pin is not held low at boot-up cycle.
If you have an Arduino(a couple of models are not supported) you have already a UPDI programmer. With jtag2updi sketch, you can turn an Arduino into a reliable UPDI programmer. https://github.com/ElTangas/jtag2updi
If you don't have an Arduino you can use a USB-to-UART(TTL) adapter with pyupdi Or you can run pyupdi direct on Raspberry pi. https://github.com/mraardvark/pyupdi/blob/master/updi/pyupdi.py
The board don't come with a bootloader, but there are Arduino bootloaders and others out there.
Everything is hand solder with lead-free solder, 99.7% tin and 0.3% silver.
I offer two options, the first option is via mailbox and the other option is via package service. If you like I can send things by mail, is much cheap, but the buyer is responsible for it. So I will only do this for small cheap items, < 10 euro. The other option is package service, which will have track and trace. I will package the PCB in anti-static bags and put everything in a bubble-padded envelope with some extra protection.
I designed this product for myself and some friends, but I order 20 instead of 10, and I got 22 PCBs in the end, so I have at least 12 to sell. I will order more PCBs if there is demand for.

I check the Tindie store a couple of times a week. I try to ship on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and if I have time also in between, but in general it will take 2-3 days. All items that are listed as stock are ready for shipping.
If there are optional parts that need to be soldered on the item(s) it can take 1-2 days longer before I send the package(s).
I will make pictures of the package(s) before I send the package(s ) and will inform you with picture(s) when I send the package.
