Read More…The Castellated 0.96 In OLED SSD1315 I2C 128x64 Screen Module is a compact and high-quality display module that can be soldered directly to your own PCB board design without the fuss of dealing with big header pins. Though you CAN actually solder this to standard header pins as it is designed with the standard 100 mils (2.54 mm) pitch.
I designed this because while I see many different OLED displays on market, they all come with standard header pins, which are bulky and sticks up from the PCB, adding unnecessary height. With this castellated pads design, you can keep your board compact and thin, while adding a high-quality (monochrome white) 0.9 inch OLED display with a resolution of 128x64 pixels, which provides clear and sharp images.
Some potential example use cases:
Weather station: You can use the OLED display module to show real-time weather information, such as temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure, which can be collected using sensors connected to a microcontroller. This can be a great way to create a personalized weather station that can be used in your home or office.
Smartwatch: The small size and low power consumption of the OLED display module make it a perfect choice for a DIY smartwatch project. You can use the display to show the time, date, notifications, and other information that can be collected using sensors or other electronic devices.
Fitness tracker: The OLED display module can be used to show fitness-related information, such as step count, heart rate, and calorie burn, which can be collected using sensors connected to a microcontroller. This can be a great way to create a personalized fitness tracker that can help you stay motivated and track your progress.
Gaming console: You can use the OLED display module to create a DIY gaming console that can be used to play simple games, such as Snake or Tetris. The display can show the game graphics, and the buttons and controls can be connected to a microcontroller to provide a user-friendly gaming experience.
To use it, solder the castellated pads to your microcontroller I2C pins along with GND and 3.3V power. You can use open source Arduino libraries such as: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_SSD1306
