What is it?

This is a sensor to detect lightning and other EMP-signals. Hook it up to your Raspberry Pi, Arduino-board or whatever you plan to connect it to. These sensors are used as a warning-system for off-the-grid housing, solar-panels, photography, etc. These sensors are also used and bought by aerospace, satellite / telcom-companies, nucleair research institutes and more.

Why did you make it?

This is a financial reason. Let me explain a bit. The previous version (v2.1) contains a piezo buzzer. When products have a specific minimum size it requires shipping by parcel (at least, here in the Netherlands, Europe). Shipping by parcel is more expensive as it would be by envelope (woldwide). I'm still convinced this sensor has great value for all of you. It should be available at low cost. The result : no piezo sensor (like V2.1), using smaller components to cramp it on a tinier surface. Besides, no real compromise on functionalities or pin-connections.

What makes it special?

It's smaller than its predecessor (V2.1), 100% pin-compatabile and cheaper to ship (1). I've created a datasheet, with loads of information. It even includes several electronic schematics to inspire. Expand your next project with a new type of sensor.
