Important safety information
⚠️ This PCB exposes mains voltages. Handle with extreme care and ensure appropriate safety measures are taken to prevent electrical shock. Do not remove the protective cover. Use of a secondary enclosure is strongly recommended. This PCB is sold as a component, buyers are responsible for safe installation and usage. Always assume the PCB is live and do not work on or handle without isolating. ⚠️
Introduction
This PCB is meant for Raspberry Pi applications where space is at a premium and/or mains connections are limited. It means you can supply the Pi directly from the mains without the bulk of a mains socket and plug-in transformer.
Basic Specs/Features
The PCB takes 110-240VAC 50-60Hz mains and produces 5V at a maximum of 3A, which is supplied to the Pi through the GPIO pins. This is 15W maximum output power, enough for the Raspberry Pi 4 and for a lot of Raspberry Pi 5 applications too.
Each PCB has a 3D printed shield that covers the mains pins on the underside, to protect the Raspberry Pi. This shield is attached using electronics grade silicone and should not be removed.
The PCB has the recommended protection circuit for back-powering the pi via the GPIO header. It also has a power indicator LED.
The mains input is fused, filtered and varistor protected.
There are two mains terminal blocks provided, you can use either one to power the Pi. The other can be used to power a second mains device if you want (maximum current 1A).
The hat comes with four 11mm M2.5 standoffs and screws to attach the hat to the Pi.
It is very strongly recommended that you put this product in an enclosure or within a cover to prevent exposure to the mains.
