The module has the following features:

• Z80 Central Processing Unit (CPU)
• 7.3728 MHz clock oscillator
• Memory Management Unit (MMU)
• Suitable memory for running RomWBW and CP/M
• Compatible with RCBus-Z80 (80-pin bus)
• Recommended memory module SC721

The memory management unit allows 1MB of external linear (or flat) memory to be used, such as SC721. It is not suitable for use with SC114 which also includes a MMU. It maps a fixed 32kB bank of RAM to the top of the Z80's 64kB memory map (0x8000 to 0xFFFF) and any one of the 32kB banks of ROM or RAM to the bottom 32kB of the Z80's 64kB memory map (0x0000 to 0x7FFF). This configuration is perfect for running RomWBW (which includes CP/M). It can also be used in a basic way to support traditional CP/M 2.2 in 64k of RAM.

While this configuration is perfect for RomWBW it may not be suitable for other software that uses more than 64kB of memory. Check your intended software and firmware for compatibility.

Compatibility

This module conforms to the RCBus specification v1.0 for RCBus-Z80 (80-pin bus).

This module must be used with a linear (or flat) memory module, such as SC721. This module provides two 512kB Flash ROMs and one 512kB RAM. The memory module will need to be fitted with firmware for the Z80 CPU (not the Z180 CPU).

The RCBus specification includes RCBus-2014 (both RC2014 standard 40-pin bus and RC2014 enhanced 60-pin bus) and also the full 80-pin RCBus. The 80-pin RCBus provides support for advanced Z80 features, such as the interrupt daisy-chain, as well as support for other processor families.

The Kit

This kit includes all the components needed to make the module, as shown in the first picture. Other modules and backplanes shown in the pictures are not included. You will require tools, solder, and cleaning materials to assemble this kit.
