Stylish RFID Ring Tag
Our RFID ring tag combines convenience with elegance, providing a fashionable way to carry your RFID tag. Available in the two most common ring sizes in the United States, size 9 and size 10, it ensures a comfortable fit for most users. This sleek ring tag is perfect for seamless authentication and identification in various settings. See image above for a US Ring Size Chart.
Ultra-Compact PN532 Breakout Board: The PN532 breakout board is designed to be ultra compact, much smaller than other manufactures on the market. Most NFC breakout boards on the market are not optimized for size like this one. This one measures only 28mm x 18mm!
Despite its tiny size, the included PN532 RFID breakout board delivers powerful performance. It's designed for easy integration into your projects, making it ideal for space-constrained applications. The breakout board supports uses SPI communication with an MCU.
Instead of using a 4-layer board, I designed it with two 2-sided 0.8mm PCB boards soldered back-to-back in order to reduce the cost and make it more affordable. The top board houses the PN532 NFC chip along with supporting passives. The bottom board contains the fine-tuned trace antenna coil.
The breakout board has the following pinouts:
To use it, connect the right side pins to the SPI interface of the MCU, along with 3.3V power and ground. The RST pin can be used to pulled LOW in order to put the PN532 to standby mode. This board runs on 3.3V logic.
You can use open source Arduino libraries such as: PN532
Potential Use Cases:
Smart Home Security: Use the RFID ring to unlock doors and access smart home systems without needing keys or codes. Simply swipe your ring on the RFID reader to gain entry, making home access seamless and secure.
Wearable Tech Projects: Combine the RFID ring with other wearable tech components to create unique gadgets, such as an NFC-enabled smartwatch or a fitness tracker that syncs with your devices.
Project Authentication: Implement a system where makers can use their RFID ring to log their project hours or access specific areas of the maker space, streamlining management and security.
