I have printed a lot with different brand of filament in the past 8 year. and
find a lot of width problem that effect the print quality but we can
not realize it except it block the nozzle.
Flow rate adjust: adjust the flow rate in real time
Jam/Runout: Pause the printer while jam or runout (laser optical tracking chip)
Width Accuracy: +/- 0.015mm (high resolution 0.005mm CCD sensor chip)
Connection: USB or I2C, Low power 5V*49mA = 0.245W
No calibration required
firmware update from the usb (Only needs updating when we release a new bdwidth.hex)
No mechanical contact with the filament, no wear due to the use of optical components
Note: It works well for all kind of filaments, except the transparent filaments, Because it cannot measure the width of fully transparent filaments with the latest firmware(it seems it's possible to do that in the firmware in the feature), but it can still measure movement. This means that the jam and runout detection functions still work
