What is it?

The ezPick vacuum SMT manual Pick and Place Machine provides an elegant, low cost and highly efficient solution to overcome the difficulties of manual SMT prototyping and small batch SMT printed circuit board assembly.

The ezPick system features the magical combinations of multi-axis multi-direction motion, a high quality foot switch controlled vacuum pump, agile finger controlled 360 degrees rotational pickup head, and gliding X and Y axis operator hand rest. Together, these and other features assist the operator in assembling SMT circuit boards with fine precision, speed and with maximum comfort....all at a very affordable price !

Why did you make it?

Having become highly frustrated with trying to populate printed circuit boards with surface mount components using tweezers, I progressed to a somewhat improved method using a vacuum pump and pickup tool. But there had to be a better way !. After many thinking hours and multiple design iterations, ezPick was finally conceived. ezPick transformed a laborious awkward task into a joyful simple task, always resulting in BIG smiles and a precisely assembled board that rivals the big guys.

Because ezPick transformed my SMT assembly woes, it made perfect sense to make it available as an affordable manual SMT pick and place tool that every maker, prototyper, and small batch assembler could benefit from.

What makes it special?

ezPick allows for 360 degrees rotation of the picked component for perfect orientation and alignment for precise placement. The rolling hand rest and ball bearing assisted smooth slide provides comfortable support and assists placement in the x and y axes, and since your hand is always kept clear of the board, solder paste, and already placed components, you will never experience the frustration of smudging paste and bumping components out of place, again!. The vacuum pump is foot switch controlled. The pump is a scientific quality diaphragm vacuum pump. Through the design cycle, many different pumps were evaluated and rejected until finally arriving at the perfect solution in a quality pump that provides sufficient vacuum and air flow to enable handling of the widest array of SMT components. The expanding arm moves smoothly back and forth, left and right, further assisting the multi directional motion required when picking and placing components.

The aluminum component bins work well for component picking, storing, component organizing. Simply dispense your taped components into the bins, label them with part #, value and designation for simplifying the assembly workflow. I mark the case according to each project, so when it is time to assemble a project I simply pull the container and everything is there, ready to go. A manual tape feeder is also included for use as an alternative to the bulk component bins (tins) for component picking

Oh yes, and for the "lefties", ezPick is easily transformed from right handed user to left handed user configuration.
