Specifications

2.5 centimeters on a side. Weighs a few grams. No batteries to replace.

Comes with a T push-pin and an attached hanger/bobbin of one meter of nylon thread.

Installation

No assembly required. Hang from the ceiling below a light, in a sunlit room, or in a window frame. Use indoors or outside where protected from wind, rain, direct UV, and critters.

Cautions: hang above head high or out of traffic. Keep out of reach of children. Do not hang near a fan, in wind, or over a hot incandescent lamp.

Spins constantly in full sun and oscillates in less light. Adjust frequency of operation by changing location, or by taping over the solar cell.

Store in a dark place, so they do not wind their thread into kinks.

Safety

The solar cell is unprotected glass. Its edges are not sharp. Its corners might break if dropped. Free of lead (Pb). Made with ROHS compliant electronics (no harsh chemicals used.) Low power, only 1.5 volts: free of shock and fire hazard. No loose parts but so small it's a hazard for small children.

Reliability

Warranty is ninety days. Will last many years, depending on location. In dim light, may last a lifetime, in direct sunlight won't last as long. Prototypes are still running after two years in indirect sunlight. Expected life is limited by the motors. The seller does not specify the expected life, since the motor manufacturer does not.
