What is it? This is a fully working Internet Radio based on the ESP32 micro controller with which you will be able to listen to Internet radio stations from all over the world. There are thousands of radio stations available for streaming online and you can access them for free. No subscription fees or licenses needed. And unlike your local FM radio stations, many of them have very few ads — or none at all.

This is a small, battery-powered device with its own built-in DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter), amplifier, and speaker. There is a handy touchscreen on the front face of the device through which users can change stations or adjust volume. Internet radio “stations” are streaming audio sources located at specific web addresses, so you’ll need to find and save those URLs. This device can store up to 400 stations, so you’ll never run out of audio content to enjoy. Just search for a list of stations, find some that you like, and then save them! There are many websites that provide such URLs lists for free (refer to the documentation). The station management and radio various features can also be done using your PC/ MAC /Mobile Phone web browser.

The radio is simple to build using a minimum of 3 components You can use it as a portable device or you can use a stereo I2S DAC and connect it to your Stereo system or stereo headphones (see the documentation for more details). All of those components fit into a simple but attractive 3D-printed enclosure. The whole thing is about the size of your hand, so you can put it anywhere.

What is included in the kit and the fully assembled versions:

•MicroController +LCD – 1x Lilygo T-Display S3

•Amplifier+DAC – 1x Module based on MAX98357AI2S- 3W Class D Amplifier Breakout Board

•Speaker – 1x 5W 4 Ohm 40mm

•Battery holder – 1x 18650 battery holder

•ON/OFF Switch – 1x ON/Off Rocker Switch (2 pins 10X15 cm)

•Charging Indicator LED - 1x LED 3mm should be connected instead of the red charging indicator LED of the Lilygo board (optional).

•Wi-Fi Antenna – 1x Antenna with U.FL (IPEX or IPX) connector

•Enclosure- 1x 3D printed enclosure white color as default or other based on your choice from the list of avaliable colors.

•Wires – wires for connecting the battery, speaker and on/off switch

Important notes:

Note: Due to post shipping regulations the 1x 18650 Lithium ion Rechargeable Battery 3.7V is not included. You will have to source it yourself (The radio can also operate without the battery, getting its power through the USB-C cable.).

Note: You will need a hot glue gun in order to attach the components to the 3D Printed enclosure (not included)

Note: This firmware will only work on the "LilyGo T-display S3 Touch" version. It will not work with another hardware.

Note: You will get the firmware as a BIN file (the source code will not be shared).

Note: if you cannot perform micro soldering required for connecting external antenna please let me know and i will do it for you. External antenna (provided with the kit) will extend the radio operation range.

Note: Currently, only english characters are supported

Note: Hardware manufacturer and/or Color of PCBs might differ from those in the photos.

Important Note: The radio supports stations streams of up to 320Kbit/s. A good WIFI signal is required for smooth playback. Many, but not all, the stations that runs smoothly on VLC player or on your PC browser will run or run flawlessly on that radio. HLS and DASH stream formats are not supported (e.g. BBC Streams).
