Read More…Platinchen aka blueIOT is the first ultra-low power combination of an Arduino compatible ATMEL ATmega328P and a certified BLE113 - Bluetooth(TM) Smart (aka BLE) module running in managed power safe mode down to a couple uA ! blueIOT comes with Arduino(TM) boot loader and combinded UART (TX/RX) and Beacon BLE profile pre-installed, OTA is supported for wireless update of your customized BLE profiles. Key advantage: only couple lines of code make you sending any sensor data from Arduino code to an BLE device like Raspberry Pi (need BLE USB stick) or your favorite Smartphone / Tablet with Bluetooth 4.0 support - no bulky, complex BLE Libs needed! Of course you can send also commands back to blueIOT to control things. Any project from fitness tracker, smart watch, sensor devices, sensor activated Neopixels up to IoT enables product hack like coffee makers are a great fit for blueIOT core module.
Starting early with Wearable and Internet of Things (IoT) designs we were missing an open development platform that provides the power of the awesome Arduino community, providing libraries for almost any sensors but as well tuning the HW and SW to run of a single coin cell for weeks or even months. Also LiPos as power source for wearables is not the best choice so we focused on coin cell and energy harvesting options! After first shown during MakerFaire 2014 Bay Area and tons of testing we are ready to sell a fully assembled module! New: getting started doc
The core design is open and ultra-low power - any single component has to be very power efficient to be powered by very small power sources, also making it ready to be the first dev kit support energy harvesting just from its core design. blueIOT core module runs on 3.3V (CR2032 coin cell, or 2xAA or 2xAA each 1.5V battery) but also on a 10F/2.5V SuperCap. As it is breadboard compatible designed you can access I2C and SPI for your extensions as well INT0 for external wake-up. The blueIOT core module will be shipped together with an SDK for Arduino IDE >=1.0.5. Just pick the standard board "Mini Arduino Pro (3.3v 8Mhz)" and you are ready to run. The SDK includes following code samples (mentoined sensors are NOT included):
The SDK includes a fritzing(tm) component for quickly turning your breadboard designs in to real PCB shields! There is also a code example for the famous techBASIC app from byteworks running on iOS available! Besides the pre installed BLE profiles, blueIOT support the famous bglib as well, credits to Jeff!
We do offer as of today two additional shield options to the blueIOT core module up on request, please send us a note:
Check out some of the awesome project build based on blueIOT in couple of hours:
Project samples:
Please note the github will be published soon! anyway you will receive the SDK together with your shipment.
You will need an 3.3V FTDI for programming which is not included. - Wiring Sparkfun FTDI 3.3V
Power consumption varies depending on configurations.
