What is it?
We invented pico-Platinchen - the smallest 100% Arduino(TM) compatible THING with an Atmel ATmega328P which is the perfect basis for your wearable projects. With this MCU it is Maker-friendly. On top it comes with the latest high-precision "absolute orientation" sensor from Bosch Sensortec the BNO055 (9DOF) a Atmel(TM) SAM D ARM® Cortex®-M0+ (48MHz) which does the number crunching for the complex 3D euler algorithm! All driven by a single coin cell (CR2032) with an all-in size of just 20mm diameter! pico-Platinchen exposes all major IOs (serial/SPI/I2C/digital/analog/PWM) and supports tons of code libraries without any changes ... as it is 100% Arduino(TM) UNO compatible.
Why did you make it?
We do love wearables but we hate stitching ;-) So the basis for your projects comes pre-integrated but you can still expand it with more LEDs (e.g. WS2812B), sensors (e.g. I2C/SPI), displays, etc. Also this is a perfect basis for students and kids to start exploring the physical world: g-forces, magnetic, movements and much more! Take your pico-Platinchen always with you - attached to your key-chain*!
What makes it special?
Is outstanding small - imagine the size of a coin cell(!) and it combines with the power of standard Arduino(TM) UNO and the power of an full 9DOF sensor - you build your own application with just a couple lines of code. Just use the latest Arduino(TM) IDE and download the include euler.ino example! By the way it comes with a lot horse power: the motion co-processor for 3D maths is an Atmel SAM D20: Gyro, Accelerometer and Magnetometer are combined with high precision and 100Hz update for an absolute orientation in 3D space.
And for fun we have added a WS2812B RGB Led (known as "Neopixel") you can drive up to 256 RGB Leds with the pico-Platinchen as it is!
