Plessey EPIC Sensors are a high impedance capacitive coupling electrode and amplifier combined for monitoring bio-electric signals such as heart rate, ECG, EEG, EMG, etc or other weak electric potentials.

There are three models of contact sensors:

• PS25251 50x gain sensor
  We do not recommend this for indoor use as interior noise may over drive the output.
• PS25253 10x gain sensor
  We recommend this for indoor use along with a 50 or 60Hz filter to remove indoor noise.
• PS25255 10x gain sensor with lower current usage
  The PS25253 should be tested first in circuit as it may provide better signal performance.**

Requires a bipolar power supply such as our USB BiPower OTG Flex Module. Our ExG Notch Flex Module or ECG ADC Buffer Flex Module can be used to interface with a microcontroller. It will also require at least an additional well designed notch filter to remove ambient 50 or 60 Hz AC noise. Monitoring specific bio-signals is dependent on body placement, filtering, and circuit configuration.

Ground should be directly coupled to the surrounding skin as much as possible.

The PS2525X series are contact based sensors and the PS254XX are non-contact based sensors. Please refer to datasheet or Plessey documentation for more information.
