If filament lamps such as grain of wheat bulbs are used, we have an alternative. The PCB is just 38mm x 40mm with four fixing holes for convenient mounting. All connections use spring terminals for a reliable connection without the need for tools.
The circuit requires a supply voltage of 8V to 16V to drive the LEDs. Full installation and configuaration instructions are supplied.
This circuit uses micro-controllers for reliable operation and stable timings, regardless of supply voltage or temperature.
The module was designed to overcome the limitations of many other controllers using analog timing circuits. By adopting processor technology, UK or US / European traffic light sequences can be easily selected using jumper links on the board.
UK light sequence: Red, Red/Amber, Green, Amber, Red US / European sequence: Red, Green, Yellow, Red. US off peak sequence: 1 pair of signals flashing red while the opposing pair flash yellow, selected with switch input.
Many model railway layouts use 45mm x 19mm (2" x 1") battens as the structure of the baseboard. The circuit board has been designed to fit vertically on the side of the battens. Small wood screws can be used such as a No 4, screwed in sufficiently to hold the PCB firmly without the screw applying pressure on the board. When the PCB is fitted against a wooden batten, no additional insulation is required. The spring terminals avoid the need to use screwdrivers or other tools while working below the baseboard.
