What is it?

This product is a breakout board for the Freescale MAG3110 Magnetometer that is capable of sensing Earths magnetic fields down to 0.1uT. The device has up to a 80 samples per second sampling rate.

Why did you make it?

I made this breakout board to use as a contactless water meter in my home. It is sensitive enough to detect the rotating magnet inside of the water meter and with some signal processing, I was able to count the rotations and hence monitor the water consumption in my home. What makes it special?

This breakout board is special because it is designed to plug directly into the Electric Imp. It will also soon come with a instructable tutorial for how you can create your own internet connected water meter.
