What is it?

Maker's Rule is a PCB Reference Ruler like none other. It has lots of features that can help any electronics enthusiast throughout the entire process of designing and measuring parts, making PCBs, Testing them and even soldering them.

The main features are:

• Common Footprints for easy comparison and reference
• A mm and 0.1 inch resolution scale for measuring things on the go.
• A 0.1 inch great to resolve parts to a common grid for quick prototyping and perf-boarding reference !
• A continuity tester which supports standard multi-meter probes or Alligator Clips
• A LED Tester to test most LED Packages before you mess up soldering them
• A fine grit sanding strip to rust off those parts before soldering them.
• An array of holes to test which connector/screw to use and also a specially located one that doubles up the rule as a geeky key-chain.
• Common Equations to help you ease out the math.
• A collection of common track sizes printed on the PCB itself to give you a general sense of the space it takes.

It has come a long way from development, the initial version called the Tinker Rule was made on a hand etched PCB , this one is optimized further for manufacturing and portability. The product is proudly designed and manufactured in India !

Why did you make it?

I initially faced a lot of problems trying to make CAD parts of locally available tools. Constantly fiddling multiple tools to get job done. One day frustrated with all the tool juggling, I made a tool for myself and have been using it for about an year now. Totally eases the day for the hardware designer.

What makes it special?

It is not like any other PCB ruler. Has tons of utilities packed into a tiny ruler form-factor. Its available in two colors : Bright Green and Marine Blue.

These boards have some extremely minor aesthetic issues with the silk screen like hard to notice spills and cuts. They are fully usable in all the functional aspects.
