What is it?

10x10cm hot plate preheater that heats your PCB so it will became easier to solder. Just place your to be soldered PCB on the preheater, apply power and wait for it all to heat up.

CAUTION: Hot plate will get hot enough to burn, do not touch! Do not leave unattended or near flammable things, can cause fire. Use at your own risk

Supply the 5.5 x 2.1 mm connector it with 12V @ 3A and it will be about 80-100 °C. Changing the voltage will change steady state temperature. Preheater stands on legs so the heat won't damage the standing surface.

It does not ship with an AC adapter, you have to provide one.

Why did you make it?

Makes hot air reflow and soldering easier as it heats up entire PCB. Especially useful for components with heat pads and big ground connections.

Can also be used to heat up things outside of soldering.

Works as designed and expected

The PCB preheater works just as advertised. I put a 12V/2.5A AC adapter on it and it heated evenly up to roughly 62°C within a couple of minutes (I didn't have a stronger AC adapter around). The soldering is well done as well.

The only minor downside is that it came pre-assembled, so the 4 screws could have broken off in transit. Maybe next time just ship the screws extra in a tiny bag and let the customer assemble.

Shipping took 2 weeks (Estonia -> Germany via air mail).
