Traffic Jam Traffic Light Earrings are bare printed circuit boards designed to allow you to see the beauty and art of electronics. They automatically sequence from green to yellow to red, and then back to green again, just like real traffic lights!

• Powered by two 3 Volt CR2016 batteries included with each earring.

• Equipped with a real on and off switch so they do not burn up battery juice when not in use.
• The battery holder has a built in plastic guard to prevent the batteries from short circuiting if they are installed backwards.
• Transistor Q1 also protects the earrings by preventing current from flowing if the batteries are installed backwards. Transistor Q1 also has built in ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection to reduce the chance of it getting zapped by static electricity.
• If you're a person who likes to tinker, you can reprogram your earrings using an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) like MPLAB X.
• You can connect to your earrings using Programming Interface P1 and a Tag-Connect TC2030-MCP-NL 6-Pin No-Legs Cable with RJ12 Modular Plug for Microchip ICDs (In-Circuit Debuggers). Please don't forget to solder a 10 kilo Ohm pull-up resistor between the lines of your programming hardware which correspond to the VPP/MCLR pin and the VDD pin, so that the VPP/MCLR line may be strobed low to reset the microcontroller when needed.

How to Care for Your Earrings:

1. Your earrings are open PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) with delicate surface mount components. Please make sure not to place them on metal surfaces, or store them together with each other or other metal objects like jewelry or keys, which may cause them to short circuit. When they are not in use, it is best to store your earrings in their individual static dissipative bags.

2. Don't let your earrings get wet, they'll drown!

3. When the included batteries wear out, they can be pushed out of their battery holder with a paper clip. Two new CR2016 batteries can be stacked on top of each other then slid inside the earring. Please make sure that the positive (+) terminal of each battery faces up towards the metal cover of the battery holder, and the negative (-) terminal of each battery faces down towards the PCB.
