The simple procedure – current and voltage values sensing and following calculations – practically can be difficult to implement due to high mains voltage, especially for 3-phase AC supply.
Non-isolated voltage sensors like resistor or capacitor voltage dividers are dangerous from electrical safety point, especially during equipment service.
Current transformer (CT) or Hall sensor (for current measurement) output are isolated from mains.
As isolated voltage sensors typically are applied only transformers – to heavy for lightweight design.
Electrical energy/power metering sensor (PES) utilize patent pending metering method.
Design include isolated low-cost opto-isolated 220/240 V mains voltage sensor, LM358N OpAmp and ATtiny85 micro controller. Current transformer (CT) is external (not included).
Output are 9600 baud rate UART (+5V, TTL levels) or PWM signal (resolution 1/255 or 1 byte value), one at time, not both.
Basic version - raw data via UART output, coefficient must be used to view results in watt-seconds (Ws) – PES220/240R_UART
