The SmartMatrix SD Shield and a Teensy 3.1 lets you play great looking GIF animations on a large RGB Matrix Panel. The Shield, in combination with the SmartMatrix Library lets you drive up to 1024 RGB LEDs on compatible panels with 36-bit color, using just a few lines of Arduino code.

The Shield is designed with expansion in mind, allowing you to connect an IR remote, I2C bus, an ADC/DAC pin and more. An SPI peripheral can be added along with a UART, or the Adafruit CC3000 module can be connected instead. The pinouts are chosen to make it easy to connect everything up, simplifying your wiring.
