Overview

Inspired by the setae on insects and spiders, I wanted to create a simple mechanical proximity sensor that would physically detect objects and be used as simple hazard avoidance in robotics projects. It is provided in kit form, with some basic soldering skills required. Components are thru-hole mounted, so no SMD soldering is required.

Details

The Seta board is essentially a very simple whisker switch which can be easily mounted to your project to serve for proximity detection. With the aim to keep cost to an absolute minimum, the design is very basic but functional.

Use

Works great with your Arduino projects!

Connect the pin marked "GND" to ground on your Arduino, the "D" pin to a digital input, and the "+5V" pin to the 5V regulated supply.

Configure the digital pin on your board as an input, and it will read HIGH when the switch is closed. Its that easy!

NOTE: Images show board version 1.0. You will receive version 1.1 which includes an extra set of headers to allow easy wiring of two or more switches in parallel so a single digital input can be used.
