What can I do with it?

The Petal is a great foundation for any project! A board based on the ESP8266 WiFi module with a whole host of peripherals can make any project a breeze. Just plug it in to the USB socket in your computer and load up new code.

The Petal contains the following:

• ESP8266 WiFi module
• Temperature sensor
• Accelerometer
• Ambient light sensor
• Motor driver
• LiPo charger
• USB to serial converter
• Switching power supply

Because the Petal uses an ESP8266 you can program it however you'd like:

Why did you make it?

For the last year or so I've been enthralled with the idea of having a general purpose base for any project design. Something that would be easy to make and use. But most importantly, I wanted something I could use to make projects look and feel professional. No messy jumper wires to a breadboard, no sensors hangings off the side, no sketchy power supply made from a 9V and a prayer.

What makes it special?

Not only is the Petal easy to get up and running, but it also looks and feels like the base of a real product.

A clean circuit board with everything you need on it, makes it easy to design something special. When you don't have to worry about a sensor working or driving a motor, you can spend your time on more important things like... Enjoying your project!

Do you have any project ideas to help me get started?

Too much of a glare on your TV? No problem, use the Petal's on board ambient light sensor to detect when it's too sunny and then use the motor driver to unwind your blinds!

Perhaps you are looking for a smart way to control the temperature in your home. The Petal's on board temperature sensor can send data from all over your house to one central hub, which can adjust your thermostat.

Maybe you'd like to design a smart watch that wakes up whenever you lift your wrist. The accelerometer makes that an easy task.
