Read More…Many new cars will keep the stereo on after you turn off the ignition, until the driver's door opens. I, for one, love this modern feature. It allows you to shut the engine off (thus saving fuel, not making noise anymore, etc), gather your things and or finish your music, while the radio continues to play whatever it was you were listening to until you are ready to exit the vehicle.
Simply opening any of the car doors will shut off the radio.
The circuit is designed in such a way that if you have the ignition on, opening the door has no effect on the radio, it will work as normal. So there's no need to worry that your stereo will always turn off when the doors are open.
This board will work in just about any 12v car, except Fords.
Fords have a positive door trigger, rather than the negative trigger everything else uses.
See the video to get an idea of how to install this. In general, it's pretty simple, 4 wires and a ground.
The hardest part is tracking down the door trigger wire, but I show a pretty simple shortcut for finding that in the video.
This batch of boards was lacking it's silkscreen, so I'm selling them at a discount. The next batch of boards will likely cost a bit more, and I will be adding Ford support.
