I try very hard to support independent manufacturers and honest hardworking sellers who put in the time and effort to create their own projects. This is exactly why when Widgeneering made a stock quantity mistake with my first order that I didn’t request a discounted in the difference owed on my second to rectify the issue. I simply paid a second time knowing full well that I would discard the first product into the trash. However this humbling fact did not stop Widgeneering from completely destroying my faith in support of the little guy.

Firstly, the display bezel’s holes & edge cutting leaves a lot to be desired. A better job could be achieved with thin plastic, scissors and a metal chop stick. Secondly, yet more importantly, after 10 days had passed with no update on my replacement order, I contacted him. Then I contacted him again. And again. And again. And again. And after each time I saw him READ my messages each within a few hours of sending them without any reply, I began to realise this was going to be a very disheartening experience. Of the 7x messages I sent him regarding my replacement order, he replied once to state that he would complete my order within 2 days. Another 4 days passed, more messages ignored before finally cancelling my order all together.

I’m out of pocket from my first mistaken order but most importantly he has really shaken my confidence in trying to help local creators. It’s been an extremely sad and disappointing experience. Please sellers... just communicate with your respective buyers. Most of us are happy to wait weeks, even months, as long as you maintain communication with the individuals who have literally paid you to support your art. Widgeneering... I would still very much appreciate a message from you... you don’t have to leave your customers feeling this way?

The acrylic bezel I purchased did not work. The holes in the corners did not match the holes in the corners of the display. However, I did use the screws that came with it to install the display, but without the bezel. The screw holes were off by a large amount, not even close.

I searched long and hard for a display bezel for this LED display. This was the only one I found. Cuts are clean and it fits the display well. Screws provided were slightly too big and required drilling out the bezel and the screen PCB. Aesthetically, I think the bezel pieces are a little thick, but no big deal.

This item is exactly as illustrated and described on the product page. Line up with the LED backpack mounting holes was perfect and everything fit together nicely. The pictures only show four nuts provided, but I received eight and used the extra ones as locking nuts. The mounting bolts are a tight fit through the bezel holes and have to thread themselves through as you go, so take care to use a properly sized screwdriver to avoid stripping the heads of the bolts. The bolts are even a tighter fit through the Adafruit backpack mounting holes. I was able to get three of them threaded through the circuit board by taking it slow but the last bolt would not even start so I drilled that one backpack mounting hole just slightly larger. The only thing I see lacking on the website are physical dimensions. It would be nice to have a drawing available on PDF that provides physical dimensions of size, cut-outs, and mounting holes. Overall, very happy with the purchase and the product. I would not hesitate to purchase again. A well engineered solution to the problem of cleanly mounting a four digit LED segmented display.
