Proto-Shield for DEVCC [PIC Development]

The Proto-Shield is compatible with all variants of the DEVCC range and shares the same pin out with the DEVCC bases. The Proto-Shield is designed as a prototyping add on to the DEVCC bases enabling the addition of new components to the design of your project.

How does it help the hobbyist / developer

The DEV-CC base platform provides the power supply, programming circuitry, USB UART and the PIC Embedded microcontroller. The I/O is tracked to 10 WAY Headers along the length of the PCB so all I/O is available.

The Proto-Shield inserts into the DEVCC base creating a set or series of stacked PCBS (10 Way stackable headers required). The Proto-Shield can have components soldered directly onto the PCB. Alternatively, the prototyping area has sufficient space for a small bread board to be added in.

Note: Use the shield with the following bases or development platforms

• DEVCC - V18

• DEVCC - V40

What makes it useful

The Proto-Shield enables the developer to enhance their existing design by introducing the Proto - Shield. Stacking the PCBs interfaces the base DEVCC with additional custom circuitry which may be an LED and Resistor for 'Hello World'.
