What is it?

This is an AtMega328 with the Arduino Pro firmware (5V/16MHz) flashed to the chip! This chip can be placed directly onto your project and used with an FTDI board and Arduino IDE! This is a surface mount chip in a TQFP-32 package. As configured now, they need a 16MHz external crystal to function properly.

What makes it special?

This will run in the standard Arduino IDE evnvironment. Just add it to your project and select Arduino Pro (5V/16Mhz) from the drop-down "Boards" menu. Pins in the Ardunino environment map as shown in the photo above, but you may want to consult the Atmel datasheet for additional information.

***Note: These are not the picopower version, i.e. AtMega328, not AtMega328p. They consume slightly more power (still on the mA scale) and do not have a brown-out disable function. There is no difference in most circumstances.

If you want a different version of the firmware, I can reflash a small order (<10) by request.

Useful, easy to use product

If you need to make a variation of Arduino Pro Mini and don't want to use a bootloader, this is the way to go. I soldered it onto my PCB, plugged in my FTDI Basic from Sparkfun, and it worked 1st try without me having to change anything. I did some ADC speed tests with serial communication and it's like as if I'm using a standard Arduino Pro Mini.
