It requires to be connected to the internet where once configured to your broadband router will automatically sync the time with the NTP (Network Time Protocol) servers at power up and every hour after that. In other words it is highly accurate. Daylight saving time is handled by a button on the rear that toggles it on and off. An indicator on the bottom right of the display indicates DST is on.
Configuration is done by a web interface. When the unit isn't connected to the internet it will broadcast a Wi-Fi signal acting as an access point. You then connect to this access point with a phone or laptop and set up the wireless connection on there. Full instructions will be provided to do this.
Firmware is updateable with a simple tool. Firmware updates will be provided on my blog (if required) and you can always flash the YouTube counter stats firmware instead if you choose to do so. Finally source code will be provided so you can modify it as you see fit and add extra features etc. It was programmed in C++ with the Arduino IDE and ESP8266 board.
This was initially a project to keep me occupied during Covid lockdown and the first batch were made from salvaged electronic components. The first version showed your YouTube channel statistics as well as the time but I kept getting asked if I could make a clock only version. So I did and having sold them on eBay I decided to make some more but interest seems to have waned and I had a bad experience with a buyer who couldn't get it to work and refused any help to set it up. So I thought I'd try here to cater to a different audience who would likely know how to use it.
This is a unique home made item which unlike many cheap far eastern products will be much more accurate and it will also fit into most home decor as it is housed in a standard black photo frame. It will not look out of place in most homes.
This is a home made product and although instructions will be provided to connect it to the internet some may need help doing so. I ask that if you have any problems you do not start a return and / or leave negative feedback saying "it doesn't work" or similar and contact me for help. I will gladly assist with any setup or answer any questions you may have.
Thankyou.
There is a PCB only version with green LED's instead of red.
This product will only be shipped to the UK and USA due to new EU regulations on EMC certification.
