This board is used to manipulate AC sine waves in order to drive and dim AC loads.

FEATURES:

• User friendly: it requires only two pin for the interface (except for supplies and load connections).

• Works both with 50Hz and 60Hz current in a range of 110-240V alternated and can handle loads up to 8A.

• Optoisolation: input and output pin are optoisolated from high voltage side so the board can be wired safely to external components and devices.

• Low voltage logic level (5V): it can be used in combination to most common microcontrollers and development board (as Arduino and Raspberry for example).

• Available in three versions: "Assembled kit", complete with all components, "Assembled kit + screw terminal blocks" on TP1,TP2,TP3,TP4,TRIAC,ZCD,GND and +5V pins and "Only PCB". In the second version, bill of materials will be shipped with the board.

SETTING UP:

When 5v supply, AC supply and the load are connected, the boards turns on and it's ready to work:

• OUTPUT PIN will provide a signal everytime zero-crossing occours. This signal can be detected by a falling edge, in fact when AC sine wave cross the zero, it falls from 5V to 0V and stay LOW for about 1.25 ms before return HIGH.
• INPUT PIN can be used ( in relation of timing of zero-crossing) to activate TRIAC gate and thus, give current to applied load.

APPLICATIONS:

Modifying the output AC wave, is possible to regulate the power of the load in different ways, as for example:

Phase angle control:

• Incandescents light bulbs dimming;
• AC motors speed control (most common application of this product is in fact CNC's spindle speed control, adding RPM feedback and even PID algorithm on board output current) ;

Zero-crossing control:

• Resistive load dimming (as heater elements for example)
