This Digilent PMOD compatible peripheral module uses an integral 10-bit analog to digital converter to provide a high resolution reading of the position of a user control knob. This module can be used to add a traditional and more natural user interface element to an FPGA board or other primarily digital development environment. For educational use, the module can serve as an easily understood demonstration of analog to digital conversion by adding a sense of meaning to an analog input and the digital representation of real world conditions. The converter chip itself represents the simplest possible embedded serial interface, with a single direction SPI connection.
