This is an easy way to split the signal from the octoWS2811 board as well as inject power to the pixel strip. This also works with the Teensy Pixel Pusher. This allows the OctoWS2811 or Teensy Pixel Pusher to be connected to this board via ethernet cable, and the pixel strand to be connected to this board through the screw terminals. Power is added to this board via screw terminals. This makes installation easier in an enclosure, and allows the teensy to be at a distance from the pixels. Another benefit is it allows different voltage strips to easily be used with the same Teensy controller. Just make sure all the strips connected to a single TPP Splitter/Injector board are the same voltage. Each TPP Splitter/Injector board connected to the Teensy may be a different voltage.
Version 2 of this board does not have on-board power protection. If power protection is desired it should be added outside of this board. Version 2 is also designed for the pixels to be connected to the board via header pins (0.100 in spacing), 0.100 spacing screw terminals (as seen in the image) or soldered directly to the board (18 gauge wire and smaller) as shown in the installation image. Using screw terminals covers the silk screen so be sure to write down what goes where.
The mounting holes are spaced at 1.0 inch, appropriate for mounting in a Cable Guard enclosure.
Version 2 is available as a board only (the green board shown above) or a kit. The board is designed to accept an Adam Tech MTJ-88TX1-FSD-PGB RJ45 Jack. The MTJ-881X1 will also fit. As you can see in the image, soldering the CAT5 cable to the holes works as well. The kit includes:
Version 3 (currently in development) will have an onboard fuse. The fuse is not provided in the kit, and should be selected based on the total amperage required by the connected pixels. The fuse should be 10 amps or smaller. Also, Version 3 is designed to accept either screw terminals (provided in the kit) or 0.100 inch spacing header pins.
Version 3 is available as a board only or as a kit. The kit includes:
This comes as a 4 unit package. If you order a kit, it comes as a 4 unit kit. Assembly is also available. If you would like to purchase more kits than are shown as available, please send me an email before purchasing. I may have more kits available than are shown.
