This is an adaptation on the octoWS2811 pixel led board available from PJRC.com. Originally deemed the DuotrigesimalWS2811, the Teensy Pixel Pusher was designed for the Teensy4.1, this board has 32 outputs for the led strands and an Ethernet connection that accesses the built in Ethernet on the Teensy 4.1 chip.

I designed and built this board to take advantage of the computing power of the teensy 4.1 as well as the on board Ethernet for E1.31 pixel control. The mounting holes are designed to fit cable guard enclosures. Example code to run the board is available from GitHub. This is an open source project, the board files and parts list is also available on GitHub.

This is an improvement on the octoWS2811 in the number of outputs available, and the availability of the onboard ethernet. This is the board only, and does not include the Teensy 4.1, that can be purchased elsewhere.

Purchasing Configurations:

• Board Only: This is the bare board with the SMT parts soldered on. Nothing else is included.

• Kit: The kit includes the board with the SMT parts in place, as well as the through hole components that you will solder:

  • 2 @ 1x24 header pins
  • 1 @ 2x6 ethernet board pins
  • 1 @ ethernet connector
  • 2 @ 4 port RJ45 Connectors (Please see the note at the bottom regarding these)
  • 1 @ 2 port screw terminal
  • Not included in the kit is the header sockets, which will make the teensy removable. These can be added to your order, or they can be purchased from PJRC when purchasing the teensy 4.1 at a lower cost than I can sell them for. 1x24 header socket 2x3 header socket

• Fully Assembled: This is the same as the kit, however everything will be assembled prior to shipping. This option will require an additional preparation time prior to shipping. The kit will include the Teensy 4.1 connector sockets by default. The pins can be substituted or added.

The OctoWS2811 Signal Splitter can be added that interfaces with this board as well as the OctoWS2811. The splitter board allows for easily adding power and signal into your pixels. These kits can be included on this order to combine shipping costs, and receive a discount on the normal price. version 2 has no power protection onboard. Version 3 includes a fuse holder for power protection. More information is available on the product page.

Notes regarding the 4 port RJ45 socket

The footprint for the Adam Tech MTJG-4-88GX1-FSB as provided by the distributor was incorrect. It is possible to mate the part with the board, however it will require some minor modifications to the part. Please watch the video on YouTube of me mating the part on the board (please forgive me for not being good at making videos). If you purchase a kit and would like me to mount the 4 port RJ45 socket prior to shipping, please let me know (on the order notes or via email) and I will do so.
