The module is based around an Arduino Nano (or clone) with one IC and a fairly small number of other components. OLED display shows tempo in beats per minute and is used for a menu driven interface to change settings. Tempo can be set using the rotary encoder knob or by pressing the tactile push button in a range from 7.5 to 208 beats per minute.
Outputs are beats, clock pulses (where there can be anywhere from 1 to 24 pulses per beat), clock divided by 2, 4, and 8, and clock divided by any amount from 1 to 64. The latter output can be offset by any number of clock pulses. Pulse width is variable from 5% to 95%.
The Arduino code uses interrupt based timer and encoder codes to ensure accuracy.
The user needs to source parts and assemble them. (Photo of my own assembled module for illustrative purposes only.) Easy through-hole construction.
Be sure to see the Github repository (linked below) for BOM, build notes, Arduino software, and other information. Note important errata in the build notes.
