The new Atmel AVR atxmega32e5 microcontroller is a promising chip:
In order to play with this chip, I created this little breakout board.
The breakout board breaks out every pin. All SMD parts are already assembled. The headers still need to be soldered on. This makes transport more practical.
The board is provided with a 40-pin straight breakable header for mounting in a breadboard, a 6-pin 90 degree angle header for connecting an FTDI Basic USB/Serial (Sparkfun FTDI Basic compatible), and a 6-pin PDI header for programming.
The atxmega32e5 is pre-programmed with the sample program I describe in my blog.
Tinkering with the new atxmega32e5 micro-controller. As this is a very recent micro-controller I don't recommend it for novices.
I've created a detailed write-up on getting started on my blog. More posts will be provided later and will be tagged with atxmega.
