Each part is clearly labeled on the printed circuit board for easy assembly. Soldering is required. All of the components are surface mount type. Paper instructions for assembly and operation are included with each kit.

Smaller than you think but nice

It is just under 2" in diameter, so looking at the pictures you will realize the parts are very tiny. Fortunately the LED heat tolerance seems to be forgiving to not the steadiest of solderers. Would be nice if the LED part info was listed as I had lost some and need to source some replacements (not their fault, my clumsiness) If you are unsure of your soldering skills and want to make sure you get one completed, maybe buy two so you have spare LEDs at the ready..

The documentation is brief, beside the missing LED part number, the microcontroller does not have an apparent orientation notch, so to match with the board: if you rotate the pcb so the chip pad is to the right and the hole for the hook is to the left, the text on the microcontrollerchip would be right-side up.

For someone who wants to experience SMC soldering this is a excellent introduction with quick results and will make a fine semi-home-made gift for a friend or loved one. I'm sure as I get more accustomed to such a small scale I'll improve my skills.
