CanHobby presents the first in a line of development/break-out boards for the new MicroChip AVR128 series of 8-bit AVR microcontrollers. This board uses the AVR128DB28 which is the most capable of t…

21 GPIO pins are available, many of which offer software selectable 5V/3V3 operation on a per pin or per port basis.
Most of the GPIO pins also offer alternative peripheral function including but not limited to:
Please Note: the -C rev. 1.1 board has no layout errors - no jumpers required. the -F board has a PCB layout error. A jumper needs to be soldered in for proper operation of the Reset line and to allow uploading via serial.
I normally ship with the OptiBoot bootloader installed set for 24 MHz operation. If you would like no Bootloader or a different frequency, or other variation, just let me know.
If you need to be able to reload the bootloader I am working on a mod to my USB-UART for ESP to allow programming the UPDI interface on this board. In the meantime I could help you to jury rig a CP2102 or FTDI programmer - quite easy - just need 1 or 2 resistors and a diode..
The board is easily programmable via the Arduino IDE - Spencer Konde (Dr. Azzy) has written a fine boards package called DXcore. It installs via the IDE boards manager and works very well with IDE version 1.8.13 and above.

In addition this board offers a female header for connecting a CP2102 or FTDI USB-UART board. There are solder pads on the bottom to enable the 5 on-board LEDs - Power and GPIO 4 thru 8. The -C board allows selection of 5V or 3V3 operation. There is also the option to select Vcc2 for dual voltage domain operation.
The unassembled version includes the PCB, MCU, 28-pin socket, 6-pin female header for the USB-UART and the male header pins..
