Read More…This Feather form-factor board packs not one but two MCUs. The main MCU is the NXP i.MX RT1011, an ARM Cortex-M7 running at 500MHz. The co-processor MCU is the well-known ESP32, programmed with the Nina FW allows you to use WiFi and BLE easily from the main MCU over SPI. The NXP MCU does not have any Flash memory by itself, that's why part of the on-board 8MB QSPI Flash is used for the i.MX firmware, but don't worry, there is plenty left for you to use for your Python code and other files (if using CircuitPython), or anything else you want to use it for!
Of course, as with any other Feather boards, you get your favourite buses: I2C, SPI, UART, as well as GPIOs and analog inputs. The board also contains circuitry for charging and managing a LiPo battery.
This board is great for IoT projects. You can either quickly process data fetched over WiFi or BLE and send it over one of the HW buses (for example, to a display over I2C). Or you can quickly process data fetched from a sensor and upload it over WiFi or BLE.
