What is it?

The AstroSloth Reflow AC/DC Current Sensing Module is a small hall effect sensor that can sense AC or DC current up to +/- 20 A. Using the bidirectional Broadcom ACHS-7122, the current can be tracked as a linear analog output voltage, which is centered around 2.5V, with a sensitivity that changes every 100mV/A. All you need to attach is a three pin 0.1" male header (not included) on the output and the device you want to measure to the two input holes.

What makes it special?

The small size of the board makes it easy to integrate into projects where the current is to be measured. AC or DC current can be measure through one set of the two holes onboard. For DC current use the 0.1" pins. To measure AC current the larger holes can be connected via soldered wires (up to 8 AWG size wire), or via solderless ring terminal connectors (#6 size screws). On the right side of the board there are two #2 screw mounting holes available.

While powered with 4.5-5.5 V, the analog output voltage adjusts linearly with changes in current. The output voltage is centered around 2.5V and increases with positive changes in current and decreases with negative changes in current. This only requires a few lines of code to add to your project and can be integrated to work with an array of microcontrollers.
