What is it?

The AstroSloth Reflow Oven Controller is an ATMEGA328 microcontroller based system that automates your toaster oven to reflow your DIY SMT PCB projects. With two profiles stored, you can choose between lead-based and SnAgCu based solder.

What makes it special?

Simplicity is what makes the AstroSloth Reflow Oven Controller special. Only having to screw in an ungrounded K-Type thermocouple, and positive and negative DC SSR leads, while plugging in a 5V Micro USB power supply and an OLED display after the AC wiring to the oven is complete will have you running in no time. The 128x64 OLED display clearly outputs the real time temperature as read by the thermocouple and graphically displays its progress, as each major step of the reflow is reported back to the user. Two buttons are easily accessible to start and immediately stop the reflow at any time, or to change between the lead-free and lead based profiles saved in EEPROM. The PID algorithm is accurately tuned to closely follow either profile during reflow. By mounting the controller inside of an enclosure, you will not have to externally modify your oven.

What is included in the kit

There are some options when purchasing the kit.

• The basic kit includes the populated PCB seen in the photos above.

Parts that are not included, but can be purchased additionally with the kit:

• 5V buzzer soldered in the PCB
• 128x64 Adafruit I2C OLED
• Adafruit ungrounded K-Type Thermocouple
• IDEC RSSDN-25A Solid State Relay
• M4 Screws and nuts(2 each)
• 4 Locking Fork Crimp Terminals for connecting the DC wires to SSR
• 2 Spade Crimp Terminals for connecting AC cord wires to SSR
• 5V MicroUSB Cable (USB can be connected to a 5V 1A wall wart or into your computer)
• Hammond Enclosure Beige with Clear Lid (PN RZ0214C) Size: 171 mm x 121 mm x 55mm

Parts not provided but would need to be purchased elsewhere to finish the kit:

• 1 Female AC outlet plug that matches with your toaster cord connector.
• 1 AC cord with stripped ends (to match your country's standards)
• In-Line Fuse holder/cartridge fuse
• 3 cable glands to act as pass-throughs between the cords and the enclosure

User Guide

See the Datasheet at the bottom of this page. Note for optimal results, place thermocouple in the center of the toasting rack. Also, ensure that your toaster oven dials are turned to max settings before starting a cycle to allow the SSR to operate properly.

All kits are returnable and refundable within 30 days from the shipping date. To be eligible for a return your item must be unused, unmounted, never powered in its original unopened package.

Before sending back the board please write us here on Tindie requesting return/refund and wait our confirmation.

Once the unopened and unused item has been received by us, we will email you and issue a refund via Tindie. Used items will not be refunded unless we are unable to fix under warranty.
