Whats so special?

Simply supply power and send or receive signals. The IR Receiver is 38KHz and the transmitter can be used for many protocols. SIRC, NEC etc. Need to learn more on IR Protocols. Here is an awesome site: http://www.sbprojects.com/knowledge/ir/
