This USB-to-serial adapter is a breakout board for the Silicon Labs CP2104 USB-to-UART bridge, and it is a great solution for connecting micro-controller projects and other logic-level serial devices to a personal computer.
Using a standard FTDI pinout allows this to replace those bulky FTDI boards. Also this allows you to supply 3.3v or 5v to the device. I have ran this from 5v and 3.3v for years without any issues.
Note:
While these come with the 1x3 and 1x6 headers they do NOT come soldered.
The pinout is right on the board but a schematic will be available.

Worked only for a few minutes, no documentation provided
I have been using this product to interface to a microcontroller via the uart port.
Upon connecting the product to the computer via USB, it was recognised and installed successfully. However after a few minutes of operation and without connecting anything to it, it stopped functioning. It is no longer recognised when connected and I have tried 3 computers.
I requested some pinout information from the seller as the silkscreen legends do not match the pinout of the controller IC used. I never received a reply, despite the product page claiming that a schematic is available.
Very poor overall.

I am truly sorry about that. If you would like I can send you either a label to send me back the device for a complete replacement. It will not be refurbished back to you. I will send a new board alone with documentation. For some reason our doc. site has been shut down and all information is lost. I have to recreate all the information from scratch. Not only this product.
